Every wedding is different, but a loose hour-by-hour skeleton helps you (and your vendors) sanity-check that the day is actually plannable, not just a wish list.
**Morning:** hair and makeup start early. Build in more time than you think you need, since a full bridal party running behind is the single most common cause of a delayed ceremony. Photographer typically arrives for getting-ready shots 2-3 hours before the ceremony.
**Pre-ceremony:** first look (if doing one) and family/bridal party photos, ideally finished before guests start arriving so you're not rushing past them in your dress.
**Ceremony:** keep it tight and know your actual start time. Guests arriving 20-30 minutes early is normal, so don't schedule anything else in that window.
**Cocktail hour:** this is where couple/family photos that didn't happen earlier get finished, while guests are entertained separately.
**Reception:** entrance, speeches, first dance, meal, cake cutting, open dancing. The order can flex, but agree it with your MC/DJ in advance so there's one person driving the timeline, not several people guessing.
**Buffer time:** build 15-20 minutes of slack into at least two points in the day. Something always runs slightly over, and buffer time is what keeps that from cascading into the whole evening.
